Pretoria - Government has condemned the attack of two couples at Rhodes Park in Kensington, east of Johannesburg.
The two couples were attacked by a gang of 12 on Saturday night. The men were bound, thrown into a nearby dam and left to drown. One woman was raped, while the other managed to escape.
Acting Cabinet spokesperson Phumla Williams said the dreadful incident and other similar criminal activities should be condemned by all peace loving South Africans.
“Working with society, government will do all in its power to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,” said Williams.
Government has commended the speedy response by the police in recovering the two bodies of the men.
“Citizens are encouraged to work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the perpetrators of this outrageous act are brought to justice. Anybody with information that may assist with the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime should contact the police at 0860 10 111,” said Williams. - SAnews.gov.za
