The ruling African National Congress (ANC) has bagged victory in the 2019 Elections, with 57.50% of the total national votes cast in the hotly contested polls.
The official declaration by the IEC of the final results of the 2019 National and Provincial Elections paves the way for the sixth democratic administration to begin its work.
As at 3:30pm on Saturday all the valid votes cast in the 2019 National and Provisional Elections had been captured by the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
Both local and observer missions from the continent have described the 2019 National and Provincial elections as free and fair.
With vote counting nearing completion, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has taken most of the votes cast outside of South Africa.
The Gauteng province is the only province that is yet to complete counting in all its voting districts in the 2019 National and Provincial Elections.
Vote counting in the 2019 National and Provincial Elections has reached the final stages with the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) vote capturing process at 99.77%, shortly after 6am.
With 97.6% of the votes counted by 10pm on Friday, the Electoral Commission says it expects to complete vote counting by midnight.
