Zuma to meet emergency workers

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will today visit the Roodepoort Fire Station in Hodgson Street to meet with emergency workers.

The President's visit is part of his engagement with public sector workers to boost their morale and ensure faster, caring and efficient service delivery.

The visit follows the horrific attack on two female paramedics who were attending to a burned toddler at Durban Deep, West of Johannesburg last week.

Three men approached them and forced the women into the bushes, raped one and attempted to rape the other.

President Zuma is concerned about the impact of the recent attacks on emergency workers on duty and wants to assure them of government's support for their important and selfless work to the community.

The President will be accompanied by Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane
