Pretoria - Details of what happened the night UK tourist Anni Dewani was kidnapped and murdered could be revealed today at the start of the trial of one of the men accused of her death.

Zola Tongo, the driver of the vehicle that Anni and her husband Shrien were travelling in when they were hijacked, is expected to stand trial in Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

He has been charged with murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and kidnapping.

According to reports, Tongo apparently intends turning state witness and is expected to enter into a plea bargain agreement with the state.

Mziwamadoda Qwabe, 25, and Xolile Mngeni, 23, the other two men arrested for Anni Dewani's murder, are expected back in court next year.

Anni and Shrien Dewani were honeymooning in the Western Cape when they were hijacked while travelling to Gugulethu in a shuttle taxi.

Shrien Dewani was apparently forced out of the vehicle. His wife's body was later discovered on the back seat of the vehicle in Lingelethu West
