Pretoria - Cabinet has condemned in the strongest terms the recent spate of vandalism of buses in Cape Town, said Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe.
“Cabinet condemns the recent acts and statements that incite violence which go against our constitutional values and threaten to erode the gains that we have made as a country,” he said during a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday.
Earlier this week, media reports indicated that more than five Golden Arrow busses were set alight in the Nyanga and Phillipi East areas in the Western Cape Province.
Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has also condemned this type of behaviour very strongly. “… It is not taking us forward and it must be frowned upon by all who have concern for the safe travel of passengers and drivers as well as society and property at large.
“We urge the leadership of the parties involved to act with speed in finding solutions to and addressing these challenges.
“The safety of the drivers and passengers is paramount and this must be protected and guaranteed at all times”. - SAnews.gov.za
