State Security Minister designate to be sworn in

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Minister designate of State Security, Advocate Bongani Thomas Bongo, will be sworn into office at Tuynhuys, Cape Town, today.

The swearing in of the incoming Minister follows President Jacob Zuma’s announcement on Tuesday of changes to the National Executive.

The Minister designate takes over the State Security portfolio from Minister David Mahlobo, who has been moved to the Department of Energy.

“Other already-serving Members of the National Executive, whose appointment into new portfolios was announced by President Jacob Zuma, will not be sworn in again, as they took the oath of office when they were first appointed as either Ministers or Deputy Ministers during this term,” said the Presidency.

In a statement by the Presidency on Tuesday, President Zuma announced that:

-       Hlengiwe Mkhize has been appointed as the Minister of Higher Education and Training

-       Ayanda Dlodlo is the Minister of Home Affairs

-       Mmamaloko Kubayi is the Minister of Communications

-       David Mahlobo is the Minister of Energy

-       Bongani Thomas Bongo is the Minister of State Security

-       Buti Manamela is the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training

The President said he had made the changes after careful consideration. - SAnews.gov.za
