Social development minister to visit Mpuma

Pretoria - Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini, will this morning visit Mpumalanga on a community outreach programme that includes the launch of the provincial Charter on the Rights of Older Persons.

The minister will visit the Lekazi Community Hall, in Kanyamazane as part of efforts by government to improve service delivery in disadvantaged communities.

"The minister will also participate in the provincial launch of the Charter on the Rights of Older Persons as part of promoting the rights of older persons across the country," said the department.

Issues of substance and alcohol abuse as well as ways to eradicate poverty and unemployment through the use of community development programmes will also be discussed.

Education MEC Regina Mhaule and other senior government leaders will accompany the minister while the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), National Development Agency (NDA) and other government departments will offer assistance to the community. - BuaNews
