SAFA appoints Kujane as Bafana interim manager

Monday, August 2, 2010

Pretoria - The South African Football Association (Safa) has appointed Barney Kujane as the Bafana Bafana interim team manager.

Kujane's appointment follows the resignation of the team's assistant manager, Gugu Marawa who this week took over the reins at local Premier Soccer League (PSL) team, Golden Arrows as General Manager.

When the association suspended Bafana team manager Sipho Nkumane before the kick-off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Dennis Mumble was appointed caretaker manager.

Nkumane is expected to appear before the association's internal disciplinary committee today and one of the charges he faces include dereliction of duty.

Kujane will be assisted by the team's operations officer, Levy Ramajoe.

Safa Chief Executive Officer, Leslie Sedibe, thanked Marawa for her contribution during her stay with the association, and wished her well in her career prospects.

Kujane's operations are already in full swing preparing for Bafana's international friendly match against Ghana on 11 August at Soccer City.
