Post office making progress

Pretoria – The leadership of the South African Post Office (Sapo) is making progress in ensuring stability and managing costs.

The Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services said it was pleased with the progress made by the Post Office.

The committee on Tuesday met with the new board of Sapo and the executive in an effort to monitor the implementation of the turnaround strategy.

The committee was assured by Sapo that there is a contingency plan for reducing the operational costs without compromising postal-related service delivery.

Committee Chairperson Mmamoloko Kubayi has encouraged the new board to address issues that were previously raised by the Auditor-General and the Portfolio Committee on Sapo.

“We need a board that is going to exercise its fiduciary duties so that the entity doesn’t go back to where it was,” Kubayi said. – SAnews.gov.za
