Pretoria – South African Post Office (Sapo) acting group CEO Mlu Mathonsi has resigned from his job due to personal reasons.
Sapo Chairperson Dr Simo Lushaba thanked Mathonsi for the role he played during the height of the turbulent times at the Post Office.
“Mathonsi made an immense contribution towards both the immediate stabilisation of the operations and the development of the Strategic Turnaround of the SA Post Office,” Dr Lushaba said.
The board is now focusing on finding a replacement for Mathonsi, who joined the post office last year July.
“The recent appointment of the full-strength board, which possesses various essential business skills, provides the necessary impetus to the implementation of the new strategy, whose core tenets are geared to ensure a reliable service to our customers,” he said.
Dr Lushaba said the Post Office is being positioned to become the trusted partner for the facilitation of government services to communities throughout the country.
The Post Office has 2 500 service networks and delivers more than three million mail items weekly to 11 million addresses. – SAnews.gov.za
