Johannesburg testing stations closed

Johannesburg - Testing stations in Johannesburg and certain Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) offices are expected to remain closed on Thursday due to a lack of staff.

"I can confirm that all testing and licensing stations have not opened due to a lack of sufficient man-power," JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane told BuaNews on Thursday.

She said there was not enough skeleton staff to man the metro police's offices where motorists report accidents as well as receive their case numbers.

According to the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) JMPD staff are not on strike, but are expecting to be addressed by the City Manager, Mavela Dlamini, at 7pm this evening.
