N14 to be closed over weekend

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

The N14 will be closed to traffic on Saturday evening due to the demolition of Bridge B2348.

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi, is expected to visit the N14 Bridge demolition site in Pretoria.

“It spans over the N14 freeway and carries two water pipes belonging to the City of Tshwane,” the provincial Department for Roads and Transport said in a statement on Wednesday.

The demolition is expected to commence at 6pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.

“The decision to demolish the bridge was taken by the Department of Roads and Transport after the City confirmed that the water pipes will be decommissioned and the bridge will no longer be in use.

“The road will be closed for traffic during the demolition process,” the department said.

MEC Vadi has apologised for the inconvenience that may be caused to motorists during the demolition process. – SAnews.gov.za
