Bafana friendly match tickets sold out

Pretoria - Tickets for an international friendly match on Saturday which promises to be a thriller between Bafana Bafana and Denmark at Lucas Moripe stadium, Atteridgeville, are sold out.

According to the South African Football Association (Safa), a total of 28 000 tickets were made available for the World Cup preparatory match to be played at the commonly known Super Stadium.

High record sales for all Bafana international friendly matches started in their first training camp in Durban when they played against neighbouring minnows Namibia in front of 32 000 spectators. .

After returning from their Brazil and Germany camps, Bafana were lined up to face Thailand at the Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit. Enthusiastic soccer fans bought all 30 000 tickets; the support which led Bafana to cruise to a comfortable 4-nil victory.

The same was repeated when they played against Bulgaria at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto when 40 000 soccer fanatics braved the cold weather to support their team, which played a one all draw.

Bafana then squared up against the flamboyant South American side Colombia in an international friendly match on 27 May in front of a 90 000 capacity seater Soccer City stadium.

The match was used as a test event for the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and seating was reduced to 75 000. Bafana won the match 2-1.

On Monday, another 40 000 fans packed the Peter Mokaba stadium in Limpopo to watch Bafana humiliating Guatemala in a 5-nil victory. It was this match that saw Bafana Bafana continuing their 11 match unbeaten record.

Counting down eight days to the kick-off to the 2010 FIFA World Cup on 11 June, South Africans countrywide are flying the national flags with pride and wearing the Bafana jerseys to celebrate "Football Friday" in support of the team and the spirit of the World Cup.

Bafana will be playing their last preparation match on Saturday when they take on Denmark before they face Mexico on 11 June at Soccer City. Kick-off is at 2:15pm.
