Bafana Bafana suffer another loss

Pretoria - Bafana Bafana lost against an unimaginative Iceland team in Reykjavik on Tuesday night, in their eighth defeat out of nine matches.

It was yet another negative result for Coach Joel Santana, who has come under pressure from South African fans for the team's poor performance.

Bafana Bafana lost 1-0 to the Iceland nation which is currently ranked 96th in the world.

South Africa struggled to create many goal scoring opportunities as they fell to a disappointing defeat. The only goal was scored by Viegar Pall Gunnarsson in the 50th minute.

The defeat has once again caused critics to say that Santana has shown he is out of his depth and will be lucky to survive the axe before Bafana host Japan on 14 November at the Orlando Stadium and Jamaica in Bloemfontein three days later, to ensure he leads out the World Cup hosts in 2010.

Despite the promise of new South Africa Football Association President, Kirstin Nematandani, to give the already under pressure Santana another month to pull the national team out of a slump, there are calls for the Santana to leave immediately.
