Pretoria - Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Thulani Serero, was on Monday dropped from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Egypt on the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier match next month.

Serero was pulled out of the squad after being declared unfit due to a hamstring strain.

Bafana media officer Matlhomola Morake said Serero, who is likely to scoop the Premier Soccer League player of the season award, was taken for a scan shortly reporting for national team duty on Monday.

Morake said: "The player was declared unfit to be in camp. Coach Pitso Mosimane will not call any replacement for him."

Meanwhile, Supersport United's Kermit Erasmus, who was called on as an additional player, has been withdrawn from the squad as he will be attending trials in Europe. His place has been taken by AmaZulu striker, Lehlohonolo Majoro.

Half of the overseas based players have already arrived in camp in Phokeng in the North West province.

The Belgium based duo of Anele Ngcongca and Siboniso Gaxa has been joined by Bernard Parker who plays in Holland, and England based Kagisho Dikgacoi. Striker Davide Somma is expected at the camp today.

The team's skippers, Steven Pienaar and the Israel based duo of Tsepo Masilela and Bevan Fransman, are expected to join their teammates at the weekend.

Also not in camp are Andile Jali, Happy Jele and Tlou Segolela of Orlando Pirates, as their team will be playing in the Nedbank cup final against Black Leopards in Mbombela on Saturday.

Bafana will play against the Pharaohs in Cairo on June 5.
