Pretoria - The future of indigenous knowledge is set to be discussed at the 4th Indigenous Knowledge Systems Interface Conference in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, on Saturday.

Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor is expected to address the opening session of the conference themed "Towards a science and technology of humility in South Africa".

Organised by the Department of Science and Technology, in partnership with the University of South Africa and the University of Venda, the conference is aimed at igniting conversations about the future of indigenous knowledge and at creating space for dialogue that seeks to generate new knowledge and train new cohorts of researchers.

The five-day conference will afford an opportunity to researchers, indigenous knowledge holders, healers and students to discuss progress made and challenges experienced and, most importantly to share best practices.

The Minister will be joined by the Premier of Limpopo, Stan Mathabatha, Vice-chancellor of University of Venda, Peter Mbati, King of the Vhavenda Toni Mphephu Ramabulana and the Mayor of Vhembe, Florence Radzilani. – SAnews.gov.za
