Pretoria - PetroSA, the Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa, regrets the death of one of its employees who died on Saturday at the Mossel Bay Gas to Liquids (GTL) Refinery.
According to PetroSA, the 45-year old male employee was fatally wounded after falling from a 10-metre height during a planned maintenance operation at the GTL Refinery.
The employee’s next of kin have been informed about the tragic incident. PetroSA is providing support and counselling services to the family of the deceased and its employees.
PetroSA and the South African Police Service are investigating the incident.
All other relevant authorities, including the Inspector of Mines and the Department of Labour are being informed. An investigation into the incident will commence on Monday.
“As PetroSA we are deeply saddened and our employees are traumatised by the tragic loss of a colleague. We will fully cooperate with all investigations into the incident.
