Pretoria - Cabinet has congratulated Banyana Banyana for their performance in the CAF African Women's Championships, ahead of their game this afternoon.

Banyana will face Equatorial Guinea at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton at 15:30pm.

Addressing the media on Thursday, government spokesperson Themba Maseko conveyed Cabinet's well wishes for Banyana, while also urging South Africans to continue showing their support for the team until they win the tournament.

The team has reached the semi-finals of the 7th championships.

Banyana has played three matches, winning two and losing one. In their opening match played at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, the home team beat Tanzania 2-1, but fell to Nigeria by the same margin.

"You have made the nation proud. A victory against Equatorial Guinea today will not only give the team a passage to the finals but also books them a place at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany. Government and the people of South Africa wish Banyana Banyana the best of luck in the game," said Maseko.
