Commonwealth public service conference kicks off

Pretoria - Public Service and Administration Minister Richard Baloyi is representing South Africa at the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) Biennial Conference, which started today in Malta.

The conference, co-hosted by the government of Malta, will bring ministers, senior public service professionals and experts in public administration to discuss issues central to achieving public service excellence in the context of improving service delivery, fostering good governance and building institutional capacity.

Under the conference theme, "Building a Common Future: Global Challenges, Local Responses" the conference will explore how global events are shaping Public Sector Reforms.

Minister Baloyi will participate in a session where he will represent the public services from Africa.

The session is expected to address issues such as the interconnectedness of countries and regions, the role of leadership in navigating challenges in the public service and that of global networks in creating a basis for greater collaboration.

The conference ends on Wednesday.
