UJ closes late applications for 2011

Pretoria - The University of Johannesburg has closed applications for candidates to be admitted to register at the institution for the 2011 academic year - with the number of new applicants exceeding all expectations.

The university closed the submission of late applications for 2011 academic year on Wednesday.

"The late application process was an intense period with considerable time and effort expended. I'm overwhelmed to see that so many applicants want to study at UJ," said UJ Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Ihron Rensburg.

The university said it would, however, still consider top achieving applicants with an APS of 36 or higher for selected programmes.

In addition, the thousands of applicants that were conditionally admitted for diploma programmes, now comply with Bachelor degree admission and have requested an upgrade to the degree programme.

The space availability at the different faculties is reflected on the UJ website: www.uj.ac.za.

The registration of approved first-year students will take place from 24 to 28 January 2011.
