Pretoria - A fire broke out in one of the Prosecutors offices at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, the third fire at the building this week.
Emily Dlamini, the Gauteng Regional Head at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, told BuaNews that it appeared as if someone had thrown a burning piece of paper into the Prosecutor's office through a window.
"It landed on the Prosecutor's desk and carpet, however, there was no damage to the building," said Dlamini.
She added that investigations into the other two fires were continuing.
The court was closed on Tuesday when a fire broke out on the fourth floor in courtroom 1.
"It started somewhere underneath the magistrate's chair and his bench and table were completely burnt out," said municipal spokesman Console Tleane, who at the time said arson could not be ruled out.
The building was evacuated and nobody was reported injured.
On Monday 12 prisoners were trapped in the building for a short while after the fire broke out in the basement of the court. All were rescued by emergency personal unharmed.
