Pretoria - Cabinet has called on all South Africans and sectors to demonstrate their patriotism by participating in the various events commemorating Freedom Month, says Minister in the Presidency: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe.

Speaking to media in a post Cabinet briefing held in Cape Town, on Thursday, the Minister said President Jacob Zuma is expected to lead the National Freedom Day celebrations on 27 April 2016, at Giyani Stadium, in Limpopo.

The day will be celebrated under the theme “Together building better communities – Local Government is everyone’s business”.

Budget votes

He also said members of the public will be informed about service-delivery programmes of government when different departments table their budget votes in Parliament this week and in upcoming weeks.

“The respective departmental Executives will unpack their operational plans for the 2016/17 financial year,” he said.

Imbizo week

Meanwhile, the Minister said Cabinet welcomes the success of the recently held Imbizo Focus Week under the theme “Together we move South Africa forward”, which saw government officials interacting with communities throughout the country.

“Cabinet commends those South Africans who participated in over 36 programmes across the country, which ensured that government responded to identified community needs.

“The Imbizo Focus Week has empowered communities with information on government programmes,” he said. - SAnews.gov.za
