SARB reviews December MPC dates

Pretoria - The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting for the month of December is under review, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) said on Monday.

The SARB said the 16 and 17 December 2009 scheduled dates of the committee were under review. "In this regard, an announcement will be made in due course," it said in a statement.

However, the central bank said that this month's meeting scheduled for 16 and 17 November will go ahead as scheduled.

In March, the SARB announced that the MPC would hold their regular meetings more often so as to allow for more effective planning and quicker reactions to changes in the economy.

So far monthly meetings have been held with the exception of July.
