Pretoria - Wits University graduate Sheenagh Reynolds has been appointed secretary of the Reserve Bank.

Reynolds's appointment comes into effect as of tomorrow, Reserve Bank spokesperson Hlengani Mathebula said on Thursday.

Reynolds holds a LLB from the university and has worked as Group Company Secretary at both AFGRI Limited and Allied Technologies Limited.

In 2009, she joined Routledge Modise Inc, trading as Eversheds, as Director: Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial Department

"The Board of Directors and Management of the South African Reserve Bank heartily welcome Ms Reynolds and wish her well in her new position," said Mathebula.

Reynolds takes over from acting bank secretary JJ Rossouw.

Meanwhile, the bank is due to launch a new website on Saturday.

"Technological advances, however, have made upgrades, the introduction of enhancements and new functions difficult and, consequently, the website is not as user-friendly and effective as it could be. Moreover, the search facility does not work optimally," said the bank.

The new website will feature improved navigation and will be an improvement in terms of content, function and graphic design, and will further enhance transparency, accessibility and accountability to the public. The website will still be hosted on www.reservebank.co.za.
