Proteas on a roll

Durban - The Proteas kept their momentum going with a seven wicket victory against Australia in their second warm-up game ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalor. But the defending world champions got off to a disastrous start losing both their opening batsmen by the fourth over.

Shane Watson and Brad Haddin were both dismissed for ducks. Dale Steyn trapped Watson lbw while Haddin was run out by Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Cameron White steadied the ship with their solid contributions as Australia reached 217 for 10 in 47.1 overs.

Captain Graeme Smith (65) and Hashim Alma (60) once again gave the Proteas an excellent start to their innings. The duo retired to give way for the middle to have a go at the crease.

Faf du Plessis, run out by a direct hit, was the only other wicket lost in the Poteas line-up.

JP Duminy (47 not out) and AB de Villiers (16 not out) steered the Proteas to a comfortable victory.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka recorded a four-wicket win over the West Indies in their warm-up clash.

Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara made an impressive 71 runs. Tillakaratne Dilshan (62) and Thilan Samaraweera (55) continued piling on the runs until Sri Lanka reached 282-6 off 47.3 overs. The West Indies made 281 all out in their innings.

There is good news in the Indian camp, as they confirmed the return of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. He will face New Zealand on Wednesday in India's second warm-up match.

Tendulkar flew back home early while India toured South Africa earlier this year and was also rested for Sunday's warm-up clash against Australia. India defeated the Australians in that clash.
