President Zuma appoints members to cultural commission

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has appointed 12 members to the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities.

According to the Presidency, the appointment was made in terms of section 11(4), read with 13(1) of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities Act, 2002.

The appointment is with effect from 1 March 2014, for a period of five years.

The following people were appointed:

  • Thoko Nonhle Mkhwanazi
  • Prof Luka David Mosoma
  • Dr Anton Wynard Knoetze
  • Renier Stephanus Schoeman
  • Sicelo Emmanuel Dlamini
  • Raymond Trollip
  • Richard Daryll Botha
  • Violet Nomalanga Tyamzashe
  • Bernedette Muthien
  • Pumla Primrose Madiba
  • Helen Julia Mabale
  • Sheila Fihliwe Khama 

Mkhwanazi and Mosoma have been appointed as chairperson and deputy chairperson of the commission respectively.
