President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will be engaging with Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Des van Rooyen on the contents of the Public Protector’s report which probed the Minister’s alleged violation of the Executive Ethics Code.

The President received the report from Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane on her investigation.

“The President indicated to the Speaker [Baleka Mbete] that he will be engaging with Minister Van Rooyen on the content of the Public Protector’s report and will revert to the National Assembly within the directed time frame on the action he has taken,” said the Presidency in statement on Monday evening.

By law the President is required by Section 3(5) of the Executive Members’ Ethics Code to furnish the Speaker of the National Assembly with a copy of the report.
