Pretoria - The Presidency says it does not have powers to appoint Premiers, who according to the Constitution, are elected by the relevant provincial legislatures.
This comes after media reported that the African National Congress (ANC) had announced the resignation of KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu, on Monday.
“The Constitution of the Republic empowers the President of the Republic to appoint the Deputy President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers,” the Presidency said in a statement. – SAnews.gov.za
