Police investigate shooting at Oudtshoon

Pretoria - The South African Police Service and the South African National Defence Force Board of Inquiry are investigating a shooting incident at Kansasvlakte Oudtshoon.

Corporal Tuis Dimakatso Malitisi, 36, of Regiment Christiaan Beyers in Polokwane was shot at during a training session on Thursday.

At the time of the incident, members of the Senior Infantry Non-Commissioned Officers' Course were busy with Crowd Control Training when one of the learners shot at Corporal Malitisi.

After the incident, the Corporal Malitisi was immediately taken to Oudtshoorn Provincial Hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival.

Funeral arrangements of the deceased will be announced once confirmed by their next of kin.

Minister of Defence Lindiwe Sisulu, Acting Secretary for Defence Tsepe Motumi, Chief of the South African National Defence Force General Godfrey Ngwenya and the Chief of the South African Army Lieutenant General Solly Shoke have extended their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
