Pretoria - South Africans are anxiously waiting with high expectations to hear President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation Address.

Most South Africans hope that the President will address the growing levels of unemployment and poverty as well as the recent recession that hit the country's economy.

Public service worker Matshidoso Robinson from Pretoria said the President should address the unemployment issue as many people do not have jobs.

This sentiment was also shared by street vendor Venetia Masemola. "The president should help us in finding work as well as focus on the high cost of food," she told BuaNews, adding that she had confidence that the president could pull this off.

Micheal Rashinga, 44, from Attridgeville said he would love the President to reduce food prices and build more houses.

"I believe he is a people's person and he would put people first and improve the lives of the poor," said Mr Rashinga.

A street vendor, Kgotso Nkaisane, 31, said President Zuma must create more jobs, build more houses and schools.

"Although I can make a living from what I'm selling, I would love to see more jobs created," he said.
