Mayor meets Alberton residents over power outages

Pretoria - Ekurhuleni Mayor Mondli Gungubele will this afternoon address the residents of Alberton about the area’s electricity outage which has affected several suburbs for days now.

“The Executive Mayor has prioritised the Alberton power situation hence he has called a meeting to give the public a first hand progress report on the work to restore supply,” spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said.

Various parts of Alberton have been without electricity since Wednesday following recurring problems at the Truida Road Substation. Parts of Alberton North, Florentia, New Redruth, the CBD, South Crest and surrounding areas were affected.

A team of engineers is continueing to work around the clock with the aim of restoring supply as soon as possible.

The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused and added that all was being done to normalise the situation.
