Thursday, April 14, 2011

Pretoria - The late KwaZulu-Natal Judge President Herbert Msimang is to receive a special provincial official funeral, the Presidency has announced.

Acting President Kgalema Motlanthe also authorised that the national flag be flown at half-mast at every flag station in the KwaZulu-Natal province on the day of the funeral.

A memorial service is planned for today at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg while the funeral service will be held on Saturday at Hilton College, followed by a procession to the Edendale cemetery.

Msimang, 60, died at the Midlands Medical Centre in Pietermaritzburg following months of ill health. He had not been at work this year after being admitted to hospital with a heart complaint.

The Presidency and Justice Minister Jeff Radebe have described his passing as a huge loss for the legal fraternity. - BuaNews
