Jobs trader arrested in hospital

The Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital has confirmed the arrest of a suspect for the alleged sale of jobs.

The suspect was working for the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) at the Bheki Mlangeni hospital premises.

The arrest came after three members of the public came to the hospital looking for the accused, seeking a refund of R5 000 in total.

The hospital on Wednesday said when it got wind of this, it immediately called the police, who responded to the call and arrested the suspect.

The hospital Chief Executive Officer, Sebolaishi Mabyana, commended the police for their swift action in arresting the suspect and members of the community for alerting the hospital management.

“Anyone approached for a job in exchange for money should report that to the police. The hospital would like to distance itself from such behaviour and confirm that any staff member, who is caught in the act, will be dealt with accordingly,” said Mabyana. - SAnews.gov.za
