Ghana squad to face Bafana named

Pretoria - Ghana head coach, Milovan Rajevac, has included 12 players from his 2010 FIFA World squad for the friendly match against Bafana Bafana on August 11 at Soccer City.

Rajevac also brought back Harrison Afful, Bernanrd Kumordzi, Haminu Draman, Emmanuel Agyeman-Bandu and Yaw Antwi. He also included Egyptian based player Cofie Bekoe to his 18-man squad.

This friendly match will be the first game for both national teams since the Soccer World Cup in June. Ghana was booted out in the quarter-final; while South Africa was eliminated in the group stages of the tournament.

Ghana is ranked 23rd in the latest FIFA World rankings and second in Africa following their splendid performance during the World Cup, while Bafana are ranked 66th in the World.

The Black Stars squad goalkeepers are Richard Kingson are Daniel Agyei (Liberty Professionals, Ghana)

Their defence will be led by Samuel Inkoom (Basel, Switzerland) Harrison Afful, (Esperance, Tunisia) John Mensah, (Lyon, France), Lee Addy (Bechem Chelsea, Ghana) Jonathan Mensah (Granada, Spain).

Taking on the midfield will be Anthony Annan (Rosenborg, Norway), Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese, Italy), Kwadwo Asamoah, (Udinese, Italy) Andre Ayew (Marseille, France), Kevin-Prince Boateng (Portsmouth, England), Cofie Bekoe (Petrojet, Egypt), Bernard Kumordzi (Panionios FC, Greece).

Asamoah Gyan (Rennes, France), Dominic Adiyiah (AC Milan, Italy) Haminu Draman (Locomotiv Moscow, Russia) Yaw Antwi (FK Vojvodina, Serbia) will be the strikers that Bafana need to look out for.

However, Rajevac did not call up Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, Fulham defender John Pantsil, Bologna and Internazionale midfielders, Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari.

South African head coach, Pitso Mosimane will announce his squad to face Ghana on Thursday.
