Pretoria – The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) has appointed new heads for its Gauteng and Western Cape units.

Major General Prince Mokotedi has been appointed as the new head of the DPCI -- known as the Hawks -- in Gauteng, while General Nombuso Portia Khoza will head the unit in the Western Cape.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said Mokotedi brings a wealth of investigation experience, having been in the investigation environment for quite a while.

“Having worked as a forensic investigator and the Director of Integrity Management at the National Prosecuting Authority, as well as the Director for Monitoring and Analysis at the Secretariat for Safety and Security, Mokotedi has gathered enough experience to keep criminals at bay in Gauteng,” said Mulaudzi.

Khoza has worked as a senior State advocate at the National Prosecuting Authority.

The Organised Crime unit in KwaZulu-Natal also has a new head in Brigadier Thembeka Dube. She has over 29 years’ experience as an investigator.

The National Head of the Hawks, Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza, has congratulated the newly appointed provincial heads, saying their appointments will go a long way in ensuring that the DPCI realises its mandate in those provinces. – SAnews.gov.za
