Focus on African cooperation at day two of CHOGM

President Cyril Ramaphosa will use day two of his working visit to London to engage African leaders on the need to strengthen partnerships on the continent to increase trade.

The President is on a working visit to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which kicked off on Tuesday.

During his visit, the President will in engage in a number of meetings, including an address at the African Leaders’ Roundtable of the Commonwealth Business Forum.

“The Roundtable with African Leaders will afford President Ramaphosa an opportunity to drive a message of a need to strengthen partnerships on the continent to realise the vision of an integrated Africa that is underpinned by greater levels of intra-Africa trade and even greater levels of intra-Africa investments,” said the Presidency.

President Ramaphosa will also engage with senior international investors and business leaders hosted by Bloomberg. He has attended the Commonwealth Business Forum Heads of Government Roundtable with senior business leaders, hosted by Prime Minister May.

“President Ramaphosa is expected to position South Africa as one of the world’s leading emerging market investment destinations and to deliver a message that the South African government is committed to improving the investment climate,” said the Presidency.

The Commonwealth consists of 53 members including: 19 African members, 7 Asian members, 13 members from the Caribbean and the Americas, three members from Europe and 11 members from the Pacific. It meets every two years to discuss issues affecting both the Commonwealth members and the international community in general. –
