Ekurhuleni offices closed between Christmas, New Year

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

Pretoria – Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality will close its offices between Christmas and New Year.

The municipality said all administrative offices, libraries, selected rates halls and pay-points will be closed from 1pm on 24 December. They will re-open on 1 January 2014.

Essential services such as refuse collection, electricity and water services, will, however, continue.

The municipality also cautioned residents and business owners to refrain from giving gifts to on-duty municipal refuse collection staff this festive season.

The municipality said it disapproves the presentation of liquor, or any other form of gift, to its employees while on duty as this practice has a negative effect on service delivery.

Communities are advised to be wary of “informal recyclers” and vagrants who pose as municipal workers and demand presents or cash payments from residents.

Residents are advised to use the following numbers in cases of emergencies: life threatening emergency line - 011 458- 0911 or 10177 - 112 from mobile phones, Municipal Services Call Centre - 0860 543 000. - SAnews.gov.za
