Dlamini Zuma arrives in France for bilateral talks

Pretoria - Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who is currently on a four-nation visit to Europe, travelled to Paris on Tuesday to meet with her French counterpart.

Dlamini Zuma and French Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux are expected to have bilateral discussions. The minister is also expected to visit South Africa's Embassies in France and Rome to review Home Affairs operations in these countries.

The visit will be used to review the operations of Home Affairs with the aim of improving service delivery levels of the department, at home and abroad.

The minister was in Belgium, ahead of President Jacob Zuma's official visit to that country, where she co-signed the Visa Waiver Agreement between South Africa and the Benelux countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands) for diplomatic and official passport holders.

She is expected to travel to Rome and Switzerland after completing her visit to Paris.

On Monday, she is to lead a senior South African government delegation to the 61st session of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Executive Committee in Geneva, Switzerland.

The minister will deliver South Africa's statement to the Executive Committee which is expected to focus on, among others, the documentation and regularisation of Zimbabwean nationals in South Africa which began on 20 September and will continue until 31 December 2010.
