Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Pretoria - Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday would not confirm or deny reports that Proteas Coach Mickey Arthur has resigned.

"I cannot say anything other than that Mr Arthur will hold a press conference tomorrow to announce what he wants to announce," CSA spokesperson Michael Owen-Smith told BuaNews.

The briefing will be held at a hotel in East London on Wednesday at 9am. Cricket SA Chief Executive Officer Gerald Majola will also address media at the briefing.

According to media reports, Arthur's resignation is a result of tensions between himself and South African captain Graeme Smith.

The news comes four days before the national team leave for a tour of India, where they are due to play two tests and three one day internationals.
