Thohoyandou – Communications Minister Faith Muthambi was honoured for her leadership role in government, politics and within the Black Management Forum (BMF).

Minister Muthambi, who was an active member of the Thohoyandou BMF, rose through the ranks within the organisation while also being involved in politics.

The Minister was an African National Congress (ANC) Whip in the Communication Portfolio Committee prior to her appointment as Communications Minister in May this year.

She was also one of the seven MPs who were nominated for the ad hoc committee to consider President Jacob Zuma’s submissions on the Public Protector’s report on his Nkandla home.

Speaking at a Gala Dinner, on Saturday evening, to celebrate and honour Minister Muthambi, Limpopo BMF Deputy President Koko Khumalo described her as a courageous woman.

“BMF makes one to be proud of who they are and it remains an important institution in the country.

“As an organisation we stand for the development of black managerial leadership,” Khumalo said.

She explained that as an organisation, their mandate is to recognise and produce leaders who should assist in directing the country’s transformation agenda in the right direction.

The Minister thanked the BMF for the opportunity in the organisation and for having confidence in her, adding that it was through God’s grace that she is where she is today.

“Perseverance is the mother of success. I never thought I’ll be here today, it’s been through God’s grace,” she said.

“Our people expect us to be focused at all the time,” she said, adding that the journey from the days while she was still active with BMF to actively getting involved in politics has been a challenging one.

She thanked God for giving her strength to overcome her obstacles. “I am grateful to my creator,” she said.

Minister Muthambi also called on aspiring youth to become leaders and to learn from her experience.

BMF is a non- racial leadership organisation founded in 1976 with the aim of influencing socio-economic transformation of the country in pursuit of socio-economic justice, fairness and equity.

BMF continues to be vocal on afore-mentioned matters and has been keeping corporate South Africa in check and encouraging participation of the broader South African stakeholders.

The organisation also stands for the development and empowerment of managerial leadership primarily among black people within organisations. It also focuses on the creation of managerial structures and processes, which reflect the demographics, and values of the wider society. - SAnews.gov.za
