Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi and Member of the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Moses Tseli, will hand over a new house to the Maruli child-headed family of four, at Ha-Matsa village, Limpopo, on Saturday.
The lives of three girls and a boy aged 21, 19, 17 and 13 will never be the same when they move into their new two bed-roomed house with a kitchen combined with a sitting room.
The house follows an intervention from the Dzanani Parliamentary Constituency’s Office.
According to Tseli, he visited the family in May earlier this year after he was approached by the local leaders about the living conditions of the Maruli family.
“When I arrived, I was touched to see these kids sharing a one-roomed mud house…so I approached different business people who agreed to build the new house for this kids. I am quite sure that this house will restore their pride and dignity. What I like about them is that they all value the importance of education.
“These kids are students at the local Mulenga Secondary school and they are in grades 11, 10, 9 and 7 respectively,” he said.
Minister Muthambi said: “The handing over of this house is a great reminder of the vital partnership between government and the private sector.
“This is an indication that we are acutely aware of the difficulties still faced by our people including this family”. - SAnews.gov.za
