Business, Ekurhuleni pledge to work together

Pretoria - The City of Ekurhuleni is set to relaunch the Business Chamber to strengthen relations between the city and business.

This emerged at a business meeting hosted by Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina on Friday.

Masina said tying the knot with the business sector was key to tackling the social issues facing the city.

“Our objective is to emancipate the economic state of the region through enhancing our ‘poor power programme’ to eradicate poverty. We want to also provide support to local businesses and we seek to attract investments and provide job opportunities.

“We strongly want to support local products, especially those which are produced in township businesses, without side-lining big businesses. We want to ensure that we turn Ekurhuleni into a manufacturing site,” Masina said.

The business consultation engagement was welcomed by the local business industry.

Operations Director of Natures Garden Roland Spiteals said the City of Ekurhuleni has embarked on a good path by involving business affiliates in their strategic and transformational vision.

“This serves as a good platform for us to tackle the economic ills and surely improve the business hub of the region. We share the Mayor’s vision and therefore pledge to work with the Metro to massively shift the unemployment status of the country,” Spiteals said. – SAnews.gov.za
