Pretoria - Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Richard Baloyi says police should leave no stone unturned in investigating the cause of death of Thami Tukani, the Naledi municipal manager.

Tukani's body was found in the veld near Lady Brand in the Free State on Monday.

"We call upon the law enforcement agencies to leave nothing intact and no stone unturned in order to find out the truth around the death of Tukani. His death is a great loss to the nascent municipal governance system that we are creating as we build responsive, effective and efficient municipalities," said Baloyi.

Tukani was reported missing on Sunday after a family friend saw his car abandoned next to the N8 on Saturday.

"We take this opportunity to express our heart-felt condolences to the Tukani family and friends. We wish that they will find solace and comfort in the fact that his contribution to the drive towards a better life for all has been made... He will be deeply missed," said Baloyi.

Naledi Municipality is under the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality in the North West.
