Art exhibition to depict Hani struggle campaign

Pretoria - The City of Ekurhuleni will open the Chris Hani Photographic, Poster and Visual Art exhibition at the Benoni Museum on Tuesday afternoon. 

Artworks on display will include the photographic collections of the man himself, struggle posters and new works by students of the Ekurhuleni Art Development School and Art as Healing classes, depicting scenes related to Hani's Triple H (health, hunger and housing) campaign.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 6 April until 5 July, free of charge. The museum is open weekdays from 9am to 4:30pm and guided tours will take place on Thursdays until 30 June from 10am to 3pm. 

Born Martin Thembisile Hani, Chris was the leader of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and chief of staff of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC). 

He was a fierce opponent of the apartheid government and was assassinated on 10 April 1993.-BuaNews
