Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi will later this afternoon jet off to the Kingdom of Swaziland to participate in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) joint meeting of Ministers of Communications, Information, Communications and Technology, Transport and Meteorology.
The meeting, which started two weeks ago, is being held under the theme, “Transport and ICT Infrastructure in support of industrialisation-Enriching nations and Enhancing Integration”.
“We will use this gathering to take stock of progress achieved with various strategies, programmes under implementation within the Communications and ICT space, the bottlenecks such as roaming will once again dealt with by pushing for the same tariff level within the region.
“I am quite certain that the meeting will also touch on the status of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Migration; status of deployment of ICT infrastructure within the framework of the Digital SADC 2027,” she said.
Minister Muthambi said the critical issue of content was concurrent with DTT Migration based on which the SADC TV Bouquet has been piloted and will once again be on the agenda. - SAnews.gov.za
