Minister Motshekga to address teachers’ ICT short course launch

Pretoria - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will on Monday address the opening ceremony of the University Accredited Short Learning Programme on Managing Digital Technologies.

The Department of Basic Education on Sunday said the event will be administered to Teacher Centre Managers and e-Learning specialists.

Professor Sarah Gravett of the University of Johannesburg, Shameel Joosub of Vodacom, Niral Patel of Microsoft and Dr Yulia Krieger of UNICEF South Africa are also expected to attend the launch, which will be held in Johannesburg.

“Leading up to and preceding the launch of the Operation Phakisa ICT LABS, the Basic Education sector has made strides in leveraging Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to strengthen teaching, learning and administration within the education system.

“The advancements made thus far can be attributed largely to the various partnerships between governments, private sector, social partners,” said the department.

The Minister is also expected to address the official opening of the course at the FADA Auditorium on Monday as the first part of this blended learning course commences with face-to-face learning component. - SAnews.gov.za
