Global communication to come under the spotlight

Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi is expected to travel to Davos, Switzerland, on Sunday, to attend the 2016 World Communication Forum (WCF).

The WCF is an annual event where communication professionals, CEOs, representatives of Ministers and the media participate.

This respected international platform is intended to cover different areas of public affairs, media, digital services, branding and related aspects. As the Co-Chairperson of the WCF Davos, Minister Muthambi has been invited as a speaker and panelist.

This year’s forum will focus on the global communication agenda with topics such as country branding and reputation; digital evolution to robot revolution; humanity and media reality; communicating inter-governmental brands; education in communications-how to be prepared for the future and global tourism industry in the age of communications.

Speaking ahead of the forum, the Minister said the digital era has brought technological tools that can be utilised to keep peace in the world.

“We want the media to take a lead in promoting peace. We need to report stories that advance the values of tolerance and the vision of a socially cohesive global village,” she said.

South Africa continues to support peace and security and regional economic integration by participating in the African Union and the Southern African Development Community. - SAnews.gov.za
