Pretoria - The Presidency on Tuesday submitted 3 November 2015 as an additional date to the Office of the Speaker for President Jacob Zuma to answer oral questions in the National Assembly.
This after Members of Parliament requested the Speaker to obtain an additional date for the President to answer oral questions in the National Assembly.
The Presidency had earlier provided the 18 June, 6 August and 19 November to the Office of the Speaker, at one session per quarter, as the dates that President Zuma will appear before the National Assembly on.
“In addition, the President will also respond to questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on the 14th of May 2015. The President responds to written questions from Members of Parliament as and when they are submitted to him during the year,” said the Presidency.
Other formal attendance in Parliament includes the Presidency Budget vote in the National Assembly and the delivery of the annual address to the NCOP.
On Tuesday, the President concluded his responsibilities in the National House of Traditional Leaders when he attended a debate on the opening address he had delivered on 5 March.
“The President is not a Member of Parliament. He attends sessions to perform certain tasks or as a guest during special events such as the delivery of the Budget Speech by the Minister of Finance or to participate in special debates,” said the Presidency. - SAnews.gov.za
