Pretoria - Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria was abuzz last night as thousands of soccer enthusiasts came in their numbers to cheer their respective teams in an electrifying FIFA Confederations Cup match between USA and Italy.
The sound of vuvuzelas prompted the fans to scream loudly and go crazy showing their sense of appreciation as players displayed their technical skills.
It was pleasing to see the energised fans from across the globe particularly from the USA, South African and Italy collectively singing Shosholoza and blowing vuvuzelas in an effort to boost their favourite stars spirit.
The craziness of fans, dressed in red, white and green (Italy) and in blue, red and white (USA), started ahead of the game as players entering the stadium singing and chanting clearly showed their expectations from their respective national team - indeed, Ke Nako.
Meanwhile, stewards, security agencies, police and FIFA Confederations Cup volunteers were all set to ensure peace and harmony in and around the stadium while allocating fans to their appropriate seats and ensuring that everything ran smoothly.
South African fans revealed their support for Azurris because whenever the Italian team was in possession of the ball the stadium erupted and the sound of vuvuzelas hit the roof.
When USA scored their first goal from Captain Landon Donovan's penalty, the American fans went wild showing their sense of admiration while others demanded coach Marcello Lippi of Italy to make an effective substitution.
In the second half Italy scored an equalizer from Giusseppe Rossi missile shot and the stadium went incredibly wild and the fanatical noise of vuvuzelas covered the City of Tshwane.
The Italian fans could not hold their emotions when the AS Rome maestro Daniele Rossi scored a second goal and the fans exploded, that was indeed an ecstatic moment for the Italians.
It was a day of Rossis last night because the Azurri confirmed in front of the packed stadium that they are world champions, when Giusseppe Rossi scored a third goal leaving USA coach Bob Bradley distraught and USA fans disillusioned.
On the other side, the bench of Italy was jumping and smiling as fans blowing vuvuzelas and chanting Italian soccer hymns, the mood was fantastic to Italians and doomed for Americans.
Speaking to BuaNews after the match, an Italian fan, Alex Roux said he knew from the start that Italy will win the match although USA scored first.
"We are not world champs for nothing. They played a world class football and showed their sense of commitment, as a result they won the match in a fashionable style," he said as he blew his vuvuzela.
A disappointed USA fan Sarah Mathews told BuaNews that her team was good and it's just that the US players lost concentration in the second half and Italy punished them.
"The mood here is fantastic, fans are in a fun mood and I'm happy to be part of this. I really enjoyed the match and I hope our boys will bounce back and make us proud," said Ms Mathews from Washington DC.
Italy won the game beating USA 3-1 and the North American champions were the first to score but the Azurris were back in the game after half time.
