Port-au-Prince - A powerful aftershock hit Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince at 6:03am local time early on Wednesday.
The earthquake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter is about 60km west of the capital, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The aftershock, which was the most powerful one since last week's 7.3-magnitude catastrophic quake in the Caribbean nation, was strongly felt at the encampment of the Chinese anti-riot peacekeeping team.
There is no report of casualties or damages yet.
According to reports, following Tuesday's earthquake more than 70 000 corpses have already been buried and it is estimated that the death toll will exceed 100 000, with three million in total affected by the disaster.
